Construction Photography partner with RIA Novosti

Construction Photography has just launched a selection of RM images from RIA Novosti, Russia’s state-owned news agency with a long history dating back to the Second World War.

Charting the growth and decline of the Former Soviet Union, through to the new economies of modern day Russia, Construction Photography now offers images depicting the industrial and economic development during this time. From the oil fields of Sakhalin Island to the north of the Japanese Sea to new developments in Moscow and St Petersburg, we have a breadth of great imagery covering industry, construction and transport.

“RIA Novosti is delighted to partner a specialist like Construction Photography,” explained Ralph Gibson, Director of RIA Novosti UK. “It will expose particular aspects of its vast archive of Russia-related images to a new audience. The images already on the Construction Photography website demonstrate the range of the particular Novosti-style of photography, dating back to its early days in the 1940s, which focuses on social documentary as much as news. The selection made by Construction Photography draws on the classic Soviet-era images right through to the modern-day tower blocks and infrastructure projects. With Russia becoming one of the great "building sites" of the 21st century we hope that the link with Construction Photography will prove very beneficial to both sides.”

Over 600 images have been added to the site and are available for immediate download. To browse this fascinating collection, click here.
